A number of embassies have updated their travel advisories this week to Bangkok and the rest of Thailand. Several are making a point of that the resort areas in the southern part of Thailand are safe and have not been affected by the turmoil in Bangkok.

Meanwhile, Muslin Sukpatnarakul, Chairman of Thailand Tourist Association unveiled after assessment meeting with Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) that the two-month long rally in Bangkok has caused damage cost of over 50 billion baht to tourist sector, according to INN Thai news agency.
The number of foreign tourists started to decline since March and then dropped sharply after most foreign embassies had warned their nationals against visiting Thailand during the protest which finally turned into confrontation and clashes between the protestors and the troops, who carried out dispersion operation on May 19.
Chinese tourists’ revoking of chartered group tours had resulted in tourist number plunge by 40% in mid May, said the chairman of the tourist association.
