Five Chinese tourists were injured when a tour bus slid down steep road and crashed at a foothill in Patong beach on Saturday morning.
The accident occured near the Pak Lak junction in Nanai Soi 7.
The five Chinese tourists included four women and a young child. They were hospitalised and were reported to sustain only minor injuries, according to Thai PBS.
According to police, the driver said he took the Chinese tourists from a hotel on Patong beach in Kratoo district for sightseeing in Phuket.
He took a shortcut to the town which is a steep road. However as the bus ascended the steepest part of the road, it couldn’t climb further.
The braking system also failed, causing the bus to descend downhill and crashed into the foot of the hill and overturned.
However police said investigators would find into the exact cause before pressing more charges against the driver.
