Phuket Film Festival confirmed

26/01/2010

The second edition of the Phuket Film Festival to be held June 4-13 2010 on the beautiful international tourist destination of Phuket Thailand is Calling for Entries.

Feature films, documentaries and short films (including animation) are welcome to submit screeners to the Festival.  Information can be found on the website: www.phuketfilmfestival.asia Preference will be given to award winning film festival films or world/Asian premiers by award winning film makers.

Despite cancellation of the Festival in 2009 due to the political situation in Thailand, 2010 will see the realization of Thailand’s newest international “sanook” (fun) and cultural event.

“The Festival des Cannes” (Cannes International Film Festival) historically had a rocky 3-4 year start and while we don’t want to emulate them, we sure do want to grow up to be like them,” said Scott Rosenberg, director of the Phuket Film Festival in a press release today.

The 2010 Festival expects to screen about 30 – 40 films with a People’s Choice Awards held for selected films.

This year the Phuket Film Festival is partnering with B-Side, an international web based protocol for previewing Festival films and measuring audience reaction to the films. B-Side also allows film makers not only local Festival reach for their films but international exposure as well.

The Festival will accept film submissions until April 30, 2010.

One Response to Phuket Film Festival confirmed

Apologize to all Andaman Times readers. We made a typo in our press release. Festival is June 4 – 13 2010 NOT 2009 as it says in first sentence.

We are very excited about the 2nd edition of the Festival which will run at Central Festival Phuket – SFX cinema.

You can watch the Festival grow and show interest in films by visiting our new B-Side Phuket Film Festival page at http://phuket.bside.com which will be linked in a couple of days. Visit often as we will be constantly updating information as films commit to the Festival.
