The local beer brand, Phuket Beer, is expanding and will be sold in more then 20 states in the US in 2010. An American distributor has become the exclusive distributor this week and sales are brisk.
Phuket Beer was founded in 2002 as a Thai beer that reflected the spirit and lifestyle of Phuket island. Tropical Beverage Company started producing the beer in 2002 at a Bangkok brewery. Since 2005 the production is managed by the Brewing Team at the San Miguel Brewery in Thailand under supervision of Tropical Beverage Company.
In 2006 it became the first beer from Thailand to ever win a gold medal at the Monde Selection Awards. The beer went on to win gold again in 2007 and 2008, earning the honor of High Quality Award for its three consecutive medals. Monde Selection is an Independent International Institute founded in 1961 in Brussels, making it the world’s oldest and most representative organization in the field of Quality Selections. Each year approximately 1,500 products are presented to the Institute from over 70 countries in order to determine quality standards.
This week Marani Brands, Inc. a publicly listed company announced that it has agreed to enter into an exclusive import and distribution agreement with Tropical Beverage Company Phuket Beer into the United States.

Phuket Beer is currently sold throughout the world in such countries as Thailand, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Canada, Mexico, USA, South Africa, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Spain, UK, and Australia. Within the United States, Phuket Beer can be found in both on-premise and off-premise locations within Arizona, California, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Florida, Pennsylvania, Alabama, and Virginia.
It is expected that the distribution of Phuket Beer will expand to more than 20 states by early 2010.
