A young coupe from Sweden reportedly died on April 2 while taking a shower in their bungalow in Ao Nang. The Swedish foreign ministry confirmed the deaths today. The 25-year-old man and the 23-year-old woman had decided to take a shower together on Saturday evening, the Aftonbladet newspaper reported. Friends staying in the next room rushed in to the couple’s room after hearing a scream. According to a representative with the Swedish embassy in Bangkok, one theory the police are investigating is that the hotel room shower somehow became electrified. The owner of the bungalows, which is popular with Scandinavians, dispute this. - It is impossible that this was caused by electricity, says the owner to Aftonbladet. The four Swedish travellers, all of whom come from a small village in Jämtland County in northwestern Sweden, were at the start of what was to be a month-long trek throughout Asia. ”We have yet to see the technical report from the Police, "says Per-Anders Andersson, Consular Officer at the Embassy in Bangkok to ScandAsia and tells that the Swedish Embassy are working together with the insurance company and the relatives in Sweden to make sure the victims will return to Sweden.

A Danish soldier who lost his leg in Afghanistan was hit by a motorbike in Krabi this week. His prosthetic leg was smashed in the accident, but his insurance company refused to pay for him to change the ticket. Benjamin Kragsskjold lost his leg in Afghanistan in 2008 when he was serving as part of the NATO force. Thursday morning he was hit by a motorbike while vacationing in Krabi with his fiancé. When he wanted to change the ticket and return home, his insurance company balked. - It is totally shocking to see that European travel insurance will not help me get home from vacation. I can not take a holiday and go around town without my prosthetic leg, which has been smashed, "says Mr Kragsskjold to Danish daily Extrabladet. Since Ekstra Bladet yesterday learned that the two young people had been rejected by their insurance company, the newspaper’s chief editor decided to pay for the return ticket for the couple. - We will not witness that a man like Benjamin Crow shield must suffer so much, although he gets help. He has already gone through a tough time since he lost his leg in Afghanistan, says chief editor [...]
