According to Marine Department Director-General Sorasak Saensombat, the Andaman Coast of Thailand is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the world.
Deputy Transport Minister Ormsin Chivapruck chaired a seminar on water transport safety in Phuket in late June – after a number of high profile deadly accidents the last six months. Among the attendees were Khun Sorasak from the Martine Department and representatives from tour agencies based in the six Thai provinces along the Andaman Coast.
— Provinces along the Andaman Sea are considered to be among the world’s most-visited tourist destinations, making tourist safety a priority. These provinces include Phuket, Phang Nga, Krabi, Ranong, Trang and Satun, said Khun Sorasak, according to Thai News Service.
New safety measures will be adopted in these provinces – among them include measures to enhance accident response and prevention, extend aid to accident victims, and support safety-related research and development.
